COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Statement – 3.17.20

Due to recent developments concerning COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we are taking measures to ensure the safety of both our staff and the general public. Effective immediately the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League will be limiting the amount of people in the shelter at any given time. All adoptions and meet and greets will be by appointment. Preference is given to approved online applications. Applications can be completed at and clicking the forms and applications tab. A single application can be completed for up to 3 different animals. Appointment slots will be limited to 30 minutes per family. We encourage 3 or less visitors in the appointment.
At this time walk-in visitors are discouraged. However, if there is an appointment time slot available, walk-in visitors may wait in their car until time is available or make an appointment for a later time. Shelter staff will keep you updated. We require appointments for all adoptions and dog meet & greets.
Owner surrenders have always been by appointment and will continue to be so. Urgency of situations and available space at the shelter will be taken into consideration for all owner surrender appointments. Future owner surrenders will be done by appointment only.
We will still be accepting donations but are requiring donors to refrain from visiting the animal holding areas.
The Furocious 5k on May 2nd and Hairball on June 13th are going ahead as scheduled for now.
Please consider making a monetary donation to help us through this difficult time. We thank you for your continued support. We are dedicated to being here for the pets that need us now and into the future.
We will post updates as needed on our website and other social media channels.

Thank you!
